One of the most important parts of the Gulf County Sheriff's Office is its Communications Division.  They are the hub of communication between the citizens and visitors of Gulf County and all Emergency Personnel.  They are not only responsible for communicating with Deputies on the road via radio, but they are responsible for answering all 911 calls and non-emergency calls, along with many other responsibilities.

Dispatchers are responsible for traffic on the radio dispatching calls to Deputies, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Departments, Search and Rescue, and Animal Control.  Also, after normal business hours, the dispatchers are responsible for dispatching the Officers of the Port St. Joe Police Department.  Dispatchers also operate the NCIC/FCIC computer, allowing communication across the country.  NCIC/FCIC is used to run vehicle registrations, drivers licenses, wanted persons, criminal histories, etc, and to communicate between agencies.

The Communications Division consists of a total of nine dispatchers working twelve hour shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year
