The Gulf County Sheriff’s
Office will be conducting vehicle safety checkpoints and DUI check points
during the months of October and November 2007. The check points will be
held throughout the county to include Highway 98 near St. Joe Beach, Highway
98 and Garrison Ave, C-30 Simmons Bayou, Highway 71 North of White City,
Highway 22 and Highway 22A, Highway 71 and West Arm Creek, Highway 71
Dalkieth Area and Highway 71 near the Calhoun County Line.
On 09/29/2007 deputies responded to a disturbance in
the Wewahitchka area, they determined that Charles Earl Hood w/m 33 from
Wewahitchka had beaten his pregnant girlfriend and threatened to shoot her,
she was transported to Bay Medical Center. Charles Hood was charged with
aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and resisting
without violence his bond was set at $205,000.00
On 10/01/2007 Jason Bill McLemore was arrested on a
warrant for failure to appear on a charge of DWLSR.
On 10/01/2007 James Albert Windham w/m 38 was
arrested for DWLSR.
On 10/02/2007 deputies traveled to Homes County and
arrested Marvin Windell Carnley w/m 41 for failure to appear on charges of
domestic battery.
On 10/02/2007 Harold Lee Mathes Jr. w/m 44 Port St
Joe was arrested on charges of Indecent Exposure in Public.
On 10/03/2007 Deputies served a search warrant on
the residence of Charles Woodrow Hood Sr. 71 of Wewahitchka, he was arrested
on charges of sale of a controlled substance.
During the week of 09/29/2007-10/04/2007 Gulf County
Dispatcher handled 249 calls including 21 calls for Emergency Medical
Services, and dispatching fire departments to 2 grass fires. Gulf County
Deputies handled 211 calls including 36 traffic stops in which 5 traffic
citations and 31 warning were issued, they served 24 civil papers, 27 calls
from citizens with questions or concerns, 10 disturbances, 4 criminal
mischief complaints, 2 burglary calls, 2 reports of child abuse and 106
miscellaneous calls
