The Gulf County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting vehicle safety checkpoints and DUI check points during the month of January 2008. The check points will be held throughout the county to include Highway 98 near St. Joe Beach, Highway 98 and Garrison Ave, C-30 Simmons Bayou, Highway 71 North of White City, Highway 22 and Highway 22A, Highway 71 and Westarm Creek, Highway 71 Dalkieth Area and Highway 71 near the Calhoun County Line. 

On 01.04/2008 Elizabeth Ann Mann w/f 26 was arrested on multiply warrants from Bay County for Grand Theft and Uttering Forged Instruments.

On 01/04/2008 deputy observed Darcell Devon Williams at a local fast food restaurant, knowing he had a warrant for violation of probation he stopped and arrested Williams.

On 01/05/2008 deputies responded to a physical disturbance in the Wewahitchka area, upon their arrival they found that the victim had been stabbed in the shoulder area. They also found that the suspect had attempted to burn the victim’s truck by kicking lit logs under the truck.  They located the suspect James Steven Crumbley w/m 47 and arrested him for aggravated battery and arson.

On 01/08/2008 Leroy Penny Brake turned himself in on a warrant for Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

ON 01/05/2008 Investigators attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Thomas Peel White w/m 42, he is a suspect in several burglaries in the Wewahitchka area. White stopped his vehicle in a yard on Luke Ford Road and ran into the woods. K9 units from the Sheriffs Office and Gulf Correctional Institute responded to the location and searched for White. Several hours later a hunter saw White cross a road on a hunting lease at the end of Luke Ford Road, his foot prints were located on a dirt road and the K9 unit from the prison located him in the woods several minute later. White was arrested on a violation of probation warrant from Alabama, resisting without violence and several traffic violations, further charges are expected to be filed.

On 01/08/2007 Anthony W Parks b/m 34 was arrested on a child support warrant form Indian River County as he was being released for Gulf Correctional Institute.

On 01/09/2008 deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call in the Wewahitchka area. As he approached the area he observed Alice Renee Causey w/f 36 driving away from the area. He followed the vehicle and stopped it for several traffic violations. While talking with Alice Causey he noticed the odor or an alcoholic beverage about her person. Alice Causey was arrested for DUI, battery on a law enforcement officer, harassing or teasing a police dog and violation of a condition release.

On 01/09/2007 deputies observed Germaine Marlon Givens b/m 35 riding a bike on Martin Luther King Blvd, after a short chase he was arrested on six warrants for sale of crack cocaine.

On 01/09/2008 Jessie Dean Brown b/m 27 was arrested on warrants for failure to pay child support.

During the week of 01/03/2008-01/10/2008 Gulf County Dispatchers received 365 calls including 41 calls for emergency medical services and 1 structure fire. Gulf County Deputies had 274 calls during that time period including serving 55 civil papers, 41 traffic stops in which 7 citation and 34 warning were issued. They responded to 37 calls from citizens with questions or concerns, 24 disturbances, 5 criminal mischief complaints, 4 burglaries, 4 reports of alleged child abuse and 104 miscellaneous calls for service.
