The Gulf County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT) is lead by
Deputy Chris Dixon. Made up of 10 members, including a team medic, the SRT
is responsible for responding to all critical incidents. These incidents
include but are not limited to Active Shooter Response, High Risk Warrant
Service, Barricaded Suspect, Hostage Rescue and any critical situation beyond
the capability of uniformed patrol. The SRT members receive intensive
training in Special Weapons and Tactics, attending certified training schools,
as well as inservice training at the Gulf County Sheriff's Office twice a month.
Members are equipped with a wide variety of special weapons and tools to resolve
tactical challenges. The Gulf County Sheriff's Office also maintains a
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Support Vehicle to support the SRT whenever
they may be called upon. The SRT program is a collateral duty and the team
is made up of personnel from patrol and investigations.
